The church in action on the streets of Chester and Ellesmere Port

Street Pastors are local Christian volunteers who walk the streets on busy weekend nights to care, listen and offer practical help to those they meet, where they are.

That can mean all sorts of things:

  • helping an intoxicated clubber into a taxi
  • listening as a homeless person pours their heart out
  • praying for peace as a scuffle breaks out on a corner
  • giving a pair of flipflops to a girl whose shoes have failed her
  • getting rid of dangerous broken glass
  • … and much more.

Street Pastors operate with the blessing of the council and the police, but are independent from them, and don’t get paid! They come from many types of church and many denominations. Their Christian faith is at the heart of all they do, but Street Pastors are not about preaching. Instead, they aim to offer a practical demonstration of the love and presence of God.
